QUESTIONS & ANSWERS FROM OUR SUPPORT

___

Here we publish a selection of the questions received to our support and we want to share them all with you. This FAQ will be updated as questions come in. To make subjects easier to find, we have divided the questions under headings.

Create a new document

Before beginning the creation of your document, you need to analyze the content of the document to identify common components to be used as sub documents and reused in further documents. That kind of developing is what we truly can call an Object Oriented document. All texts are saved as resources and can easily be added or deleted from your current document structure. Just the way you want it. In the Document view, you see the document overview.

1. Open MetaTool.
2. Right click on the view Document window.
3. Select New document...
4. Fill in Document identity and the Document text. These are the id, specific for this document, which cannot be changed when the document has been saved, and the descriptive text to the Document identity.

Fill in the form and click Ok. Now your document is shown in the "Document window".

Add style templates

Before beginning to add style templates it is a must to consider a structured approach. If the company has a graphic guideline, much of the work is facilitated. Use the guideline to make a basic template with styles such as Header1, Header2, Normal, Bold, Italic and other.
Whatever style templates you decide to create, you have the following procedure to add a new style template. In MetaTool you select Edit/Style templates... In the dialog that shows select Add.
If you want to put the Style in a special folder, name it at the Folder row.
Select Change to change type, format and size.

Under Sample/Paragraph, select Change... It is very often important to fill in all these rows carefully. If a style format has been selected earlier in your document, the next text will inherit the same style and sometimes it can create a unexpected result.
When you are done, click OK, twice

MetaEngine in registry

You can install multipel engines on your computer. Unregistering of the engine is no longer automatic when uninstalling new Interact version. If you choose (we do not recommend) to unregister manually in the registry, you can no longer uninstall Interact via Control Panel / Remove Programs. When you install a later version of Interact and choose to register the new engine, it overwrites the existing one in the registry.
